What I’m Reading: March

Did y’all know that March is National Reading Month?! We celebrate it at my school with different games and reaching challenges for both staff and students. In honor of this month, I figured I would put together a list of my favorite reads to inspire you to pick up a book! Some of these books are older, but are my absolute favorites. I’ve tried to include a little bit of multiple genres, so hopefully at least one book here will spark your interest!

The Woman in Cabin 10 – Ruth Ware

Honestly, any book by Ruth Ware is a winner if you are into mysteries! A good friend of mine recommended her to me later in 2019, and I’m so glad I decided to start with this book! What I loved about this read is that it is suspenseful, and I honestly had no idea how the story would end! The characters are easy to picture in my mind, which I also love. When reading any book, I immediately am hooked if I can easily paint the picture of what the characters and setting would look like. This is a highly suspenseful read, and I didn’t want to put it down!

Live – Sadie Robertson

I have to admit, I am not usually one to pick up one of these books. However, there is something about Sadie Robertson that I absolutely adore. I love her presence on social media, and the glimpses of her spiritual messages that I see are uplifting and positive. So, when I saw that she had released a new book, I figured, “why not”, and picked it up for my spring break read. Just like her messages online and in-person, this book delivers many thought-provoking questions about how you are truly living your life. What I love about this book is that it is not necessarily focused on solely living your life for God, but living your life as the absolute best version of yourself that you can be. If you are in the need of a spring pick-me-up (you know, new season, new you…?), then I highly recommend this one!

Emma – Jane Austen

Okay y’all, I loved this book BEFORE it was a movie! I swear!! I went through this phase in high school where I read nothing but classics, and that includes every single one of Jane Austen’s books. Emma was always one of my favorites, along with Sense and Sensibility. I love how Jane Austen was ahead of her time with a feminist mindset. This book will absolutely make you fall in love with the main character, and I’m sure many of you can relate to her. I mean, who hasn’t gone through a period of being confused about men?!

Bossypants – Tina Fey

Yes, this book is nearly 10 years old. However, it is still absolutely hilarious. Tina Fey is an absolute idol, and her book cannot be more relatable as a woman. It is a biography, but something about the story of her life and career is comforting and calming. If you are in need of a good laugh, this is definitely the book for you. I promise that it will crack you up!

Every Breath – Nicholas Sparks

Spoiler ahead- I’m a sucker for a romance story. Ever since I was in high school, I have read every single one of Nicholas Sparks’ books. Even as a grown woman in a serious relationship, there is still something about the love that he brings to life through his words that is so powerful to me! Nicholas Sparks really knows how to paint the picture of the perfect man, am I right?! This book is older, but is still beautiful, and the author has a new release coming in September of 2020. You better bet I’m already on the pre-order list!
