What To Do During Your Quarantine (Other than TV)

Never in a million years did I think I would be writing a post like this! Who would have ever thought that such a pandemic would strike the nation?! As scary as it is, we truly are living through such an important time in history. We will look back at this one day, remembering the days when we could work from home and had all the time in the world to just lay around and relax. Although this is not ideal, there is a silver lining: families are going to be spending much more time together now. Now is a great opportunity to do some activities with the loved ones that you’re stuck at home with, and make some fun memories!

I know myself, and I know that I am going to become stir-crazy sooner rather than later. There are not enough reality TV or rom-coms to possibly keep me occupied during this time, so I have come up with a list of things to do that will take your eyes off a screen.

Spring Clean

Isn’t it ironic that Covoid-19 struck in spring, when everyone is supposed to be spring cleaning, anyways…? Funny how that works! Take some time to really clean. Go through your cabinets and wipe out any crumbs in the pantry. Re-organize your closet, or go through your wardrobe and take out some clothes to donate. Clean the windows! Dust the vents! I assure you, you will feel much better about the virus knowing that you are quarantined in a clean home.

Read a Book

Last week, I shared 5 books that I have read and loved, or am currently reading. Now is a great time to pick up that book you’ve been wanting to read! I have a feeling that libraries will be closing soon, but Amazon typically has books for pretty cheap. You can always download for Kindle or iPad, too!

Play a Game

Alex and I both love board games, so this is an easy option for us. Lucky for us, we are already stocked up on some of our favorite board games, but Amazon has a ton for pretty cheap, with Prime shipping, too! This is a great option for families who are wanting to tear their kids away from the screens!

Color

Yes, a favorite old pastime from our childhood days. Coloring has recently made a comeback, and I’ve been here for it ever since kindergarten. If you’re feeling anxious about the whole virus situation, coloring is an amazing option for you to do in your downtime during this quarantine. Amazon has plenty of coloring books for adults that will keep you occupied, or you can also print out coloring pages at home, too!

At-Home Workouts

Lucky for us, the world has put anything and everything on Youtube, including some great workouts. There are plenty of yoga workouts, at-home HIIT workouts, and plenty of full-body workouts that don’t require equipment. Take 30 minutes to sweat a little bit! Being healthy requires you to move your body, so don’t forget to do that just because you are stuck at home!

FaceTime Date with Friends

Chances are, almost everyone you know will also be quarantined. You can still be social while social distancing! Plan a FaceTime with your best friends to catch up. Put a face mask on, drink some wine, and get some good laughs in!

Doll Yourself Up

I need help with makeup. Period. I’m definitely more of a “natural look” kind of girl, but have always been envious of how girls can apply makeup and make it look flawless. Take some time to play with your makeup or try some different hairstyles! Even if no one will see it, it will still be fun to see yourself all dolled up during a time when I’m sure we won’t be wearing much makeup.

Try a New Recipe

If you have the ingredients or are able to get ingredients, try some new recipes that might take a little longer to make! Personally, when I see a recipe will take more than 30 minutes to prepare and cook, I pass on it. Typically, I need a quick and easy meal after a long day after work! Now is the perfect time for some more slow-cooking and taking your time to prepare some delicious dishes. Same goes for baking, too!

As this quarantine continues, I’m sure I will find new ways to entertain myself, and I will make sure to share! What I think helps me is having a schedule. Make sure during this time to stick to a schedule, and plan things for each day! That way, you still have something to look forward to. For example, on Monday I’ll find a new recipe to try. On Tuesday, I’ll find an at-home workout online to do, so on and so forth. We’re all in this together, friends! We can do it!
