Five Hair Products I Can’t Live Without

Happy Monday, y’all! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Today I am going to focus on the five hair products that I absolutely cannot live without. While I love to try new products like shampoos, conditioners and masks, I always find myself going back to these “essentials”. For those wondering, I have very fine hair that is naturally straight as a pin! Although I can’t speak to how these products work on various hair types, I am confident that the brands I will mention have a variety of products that can accommodate any hair needs!

The first hair product that I can’t live without is my purple shampoo! I didn’t get my hair colored until I was 23 years old, and I had no idea how to keep up with colored hair! I have bayalage, and I remember my hairdresser telling me that I need to use purple shampoo to help keep the color light, and prevent brassiness! I remember panicking that my hair would turn purple, but that was not the case (thank goodness)! I have been using the Redken Color Extend Blondage for almost three years, and I can definitely tell that it helps keep my hair light, allowing myself to go longer in between appointments. I use my purple shampoo once a week, and follow by washing with my normal shampoo.

Sticking with “shower hair products”, one of my holy grail hair products is the Moroccanoil Hydrating Hair Mask. I have been using this product since college, and although I have tried other hair masks, nothing works quite like this one (not to mention, it smells ahhhhhh-mazing). I apply this mask from my neck to my ends, and leave the mask on for about 10 minutes, then rinse. I use this mask once a week and I swear it is the secret to keeping my ends healthy!

If you have ever owned a Wet Brush, then you know the obsession. This brush is seriously incredible. It is gentle and does not rip my hair out, but works really well when my hair is wet, especially since it is so fine and it can get super tangly! This is the only brush I will use on my hair, and they’re also super affordable!

My last two products are “dry hair” products. First, I’ve mentioned this product before, but the Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo is seriously my holy grail dry shampoo. I have tried almost every dry shampoo in the book! Since my hair is really fine, it can get oily quick. I need a thicker product to really hide the oil, and this does the trick. I used to use the Batiste dry shampoo, but noticed that I had to use a lot of it, and had to reapply every morning. When I use the Drybar dry shampoo, I use a tiny bit, and I don’t have to reapply! I definitely think that Batiste is a great, affordable option, but for me, I was literally going through one bottle every two weeks! It is worth it for me to invest in the Drybar because it lasts so much longer.

Last is the Not Your Mother’s Double Take Dry Texture Spray. I have always had a problem keeping my curls, they always fall! Usually by the end of the night, my hair is straight again. However, when I moved to Texas, I quickly learned that my hair would only last about 5 minutes before it was totally straight! Dying to find a solution, I was in Ulta one day browsing products and decided to try this texture spray. Now, I’m hooked! I spray a generous amount all over my hair before curling, and it really helps to hold my curls! The best part about this product: it’s less than $4!

Like I said, there are some products that I am constantly trying new brands, like shampoo, hairspray, etc. I will continue to find amazing products with you as I try them, but I wanted to share my tried and true, go-to hair products with you first! What is the one hair product that you absolutely cannot live without? I’d love to know!
