How To Dress For Fall When It’s Still Hot Outside

Living in Texas is great! Warm winters, no snow, what’s not to love?! Well, Texas falls look a liiiiiiiiittle different than the ones I am used to back in Ohio. I actually get excited when I see that it will be in the 80’s, because in Texas, that’s considered “cool”! I refuse to compromise my love for fall fashion, though, and I figured that I am not the only gal in this situation, so I decided to share some tips on how to dress for fall when it is still hot outside!

Tip #1: Introduce Fall Colors

Adding fall colors into your wardrobe is one of the easiest ways to help you transition into the season. I love when I find short-sleeve, or even sleeveless pieces that are in the browns, neutrals, reds and olive greens that represent the season. I absolutely hate being overheated and sweating in clothes, so wearing cooler options that are in these colors is one of the main ways that I dress for fall while it is still hot here. I’ve linked some pieces that I have found and loved, as well as other really great options!

Tip #2: Swap your Sandals for Mules and Sneakers

Now, if you plan on being outside and walking a lot, maybe stick to your sandals so you’re not sweating! However, if you’re headed into an office or just running errands and know you’ll be in air conditioning, swapping out your shoe options is another great way to add fall vibes to your look. Mules are a great option because they are an easy slip-on shoe, and can still be a little breezy! I also love pairing outfits with some cute sneakers!

Tip #3: Lightweight Flannels

I guess technically this should be “lightweight plaid shirts” because I don’t think a “lightweight flannel” exists! Abercrombie makes some of my all time favorite flannels and plaid shirts, and I love pairing them with shorts when it’s still warm out! Target also has some really cute, affordable plaid shirts that are perfect to pair with shorts and sneakers for fall!

Tip #4: Accessorize!

Add accessories to your look that align with fall vibes, whether that’s color, pattern, or texture. A wide-brim hat and some suede booties look adorable with jeans and a sweater, or with shorts and a tank! I’ve linked lots of my favorite fall accessories here that can easily be paired with cooler looks, but bring a sense of fall to your style!

Tip #5: Find Lightweight Layers

I LOVE layering cardigans and cute cami’s, tees or tanks during fall! Luckily for me, my classroom always feels like Antarctica, so I can get away with bringing a cozy sweater or lightweight jacket to wear with my outfit and not get overheated! However, in times when it is still warm out, but you’re looking for a layered look, I recommend a lightweight duster or sweater. You can even pair your look with a denim jacket, and tie it around your waist if it gets too warm, while still keeping your look!

I hope this little guide was helpful in inspiring you to start dressing for fall, and not let the weather get in the way of you doing that! You can click on each photo and it will take you to the links to the items I found!
