Skincare is something that I have become passionate about since graduating college and quickly realizing that my skin will not always be as fresh, dewy and naturally glowing as it once was. In an effort to keep my skin as fresh as possible (despite being utterly exhausted about 95% of the time), I have been trying numerous products over the past few years. I love trying new products and seeing how my skin will react to them. I have found some of my all time favorite skincare products through many trial and error attempts with different products.
My “adult” skincare routine all started with Tula. I remember I was fresh out of college, and thought that spending more than $4 on a face wash was ridiculous and silly. Then the adult acne started, and when my many different drugstore face washes weren’t helping my complexion at all, I figure I might as well invest in a product that will actually help rather than wasting money on products that won’t. This was around the same time when I noticed Tula becoming really popular, and it was all over social media. I remember reading some other blogger reviews that their foaming cleanser had helped with adult acne and just producing an overall more clear complexion, so I decided to give it a try. Well, here we are, three years later, and I haven’t used another face wash since!
This cleanser really is as good as everyone says it is. No wonder they call it the “cult classic”, I will never use another cleanser! It removes my makeup and really cleanses my skin without overdrying it. I started using the toner as well, which makes my skin feel so incredibly fresh. After I wash my face, I dry well and use the toner all over my face. It reduces the look of my pores and makes my skin feel so good.
A friend of mine became a consultant for Beautycounter and send me a few samples. She kept mentioning the Overnight Resurfacing Peel, but again, I felt like $60 on a skincare product was outrageous and unnecessary. However, one night I was going on an online shopping binge and decided to just bite the bullet and order it. And wow, I am SO glad I did. Best $60 ever spent, seriously! I use the resurfacing peel 2-3 times a week under my night oil and cream. I apply it and let it dry for about 5 minutes, then apply my other products. I wake up and feel like I shed a layer of skin, revealing a bright, glowing face. This product is the real deal, folks!
Usually after my toner I will apply my under eye cream. This was also a rude awakening that I experienced in my first year post-grad: eye bags. Somehow I was able to survive my late college evenings (or early mornings?) without looking like a complete zombie, but once I started working full time, those days were over. I put off purchasing an eye cream because I kept telling myself that I am “too young” to need one and all I really need is some good sleep. Well, good sleep is hard to come by, so I did my research and found the all about eyes from Clinique. I have noticed a drastic difference in the appearance of my eyes, and I will use this product for years to come! I apply in the evening all around my eyes, and I wake up without puffy eyes and the dark circles have seriously decreased!
Last but certainly not least are my moisturizers. I am convinced that this Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, paired with my resurfacing peel, is the holy grail duo. I love this concentrate because it makes my skin feel baby soft, without feeling too oily. It absorbs into my skin and keeps it hydrated and smooth. I use the Olay Retinol moisturizer over the Midnight Recovery for extra hydration, and smooth it all over my face and neck. When I wake up in the morning, my skin feels quenched and refreshed, rather than dry and irritated!
